REFUND & CANCELLATION
Refund & Cancellation Policy
What happens if you cancel, withdraw, or have a concern about an order.
Last updated: 8 September 2026
Before work has started
If you cancel before we've begun work on your order, you get a full refund, no charge.
Once work is in progress
If work has already started, you can still cancel at any time. You'll be charged pro-rata for the portion of work completed at the point of cancellation, invoiced accordingly, and you'll receive whatever work has been done so far. The minimum charge on any cancelled order is our minimum order value, kr 590.
Once your order has been delivered
Once we've delivered your final files, the fee is not refunded — but the 14-day free correction window applies from the delivery date: if we made an error, we fix it at no cost, as many times as it takes. This doesn't cover new instructions or a change of mind about the brief; that's a new order.
If you're not satisfied with the quality
Tell us what's wrong and we'll correct it first. If a documented error genuinely isn't resolved after two correction rounds, we'll agree a pro-rata credit or refund for the affected portion of the work.
Interpreting bookings — a different, appointment-style policy
Interpreting is the one service on this site booked as a person's time, not a document, so its cancellation terms are different and stated here plainly: 48 hours or more before your session — free cancellation, full refund. Within 48 hours — 50% of the fee applies. Within 12 hours, or a no-show — the full fee applies. This reflects that the interpreter's time for your session is reserved and can't be resold at short notice.
Your right of withdrawal as a consumer (angrerettloven)
If you're ordering as a private consumer, Norwegian law (angrerettloven) gives you a 14-day right of withdrawal from a distance sale, without needing to give a reason. Because translation and related work is a service we typically start promptly to meet your stated deadline, at checkout we ask you to expressly request that we begin before the 14 days are up and to acknowledge that your right of withdrawal lapses once the work is fully performed, and that if you withdraw while work is in progress, you'll pay an amount proportionate to what's been delivered up to that point. If you don't ask us to start early, you can withdraw within the 14-day period without these consequences, but this will typically mean waiting until the period has passed before we begin.
Government fees
Fees paid to a third-party authority on your behalf — for example, notarisation or apostille processing charged at cost — are non-refundable once we've paid them to that authority, regardless of the outcome of the rest of your order.
How to cancel or request a correction
Email support@km-translation.com with your order reference, or reply to your order confirmation email. We'll confirm what applies to your situation and the amount due (if any) before proceeding.
Governing law
This policy is governed by Norwegian law, including angrerettloven and, where applicable, forbrukerkjøpsloven. Consumers may bring an unresolved complaint to Forbrukertilsynet / Forbrukerrådet, or via the EU's Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
