Terms of Service

The terms that apply when you order or request a quote from us.

Last updated: 8 September 2026

Who these terms apply to

These terms govern any order or quote request placed through km-translation.com with KM Translation AS, Arnebråtveien 27B, 0771 Oslo, Norway, org.nr 914 286 530 MVA ("KM Translation", "we", "us"). By placing an order or accepting a quote, you ("you", "the customer") agree to these terms.

What we provide

We provide translation, certified translation, interpreting, subtitling and transcription, proofreading and editing, and related language services, as described on each service page. Nine of our ten services are sold at a published, fixed price for standard-sized jobs, shown gross including 25% Norwegian MVA. Work that doesn't fit a standard band is priced individually via a scoped quote.

Orders and quotes

Priced orders are placed through the cart and checkout. An order is confirmed once payment (or, for business customers, an accepted invoice arrangement) is completed and you receive an order reference. Quotes are requested via the contact form; we aim to respond within 2 working hours during office hours. A quote becomes a binding order once you confirm acceptance. You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you give us; if the actual scope differs materially, we'll contact you before proceeding, and the price may be adjusted accordingly.

Delivery

Work is delivered digitally by email as standard, in the format stated on your order. Physical delivery is available only for orders that include a physical item and is priced at checkout per our shipping table. Delivery timings run from confirmation of order and full information, not from the moment you clicked "place order."

Our workflow

Every order is translated, then independently revised by a second linguist, then checked before delivery. Certified translations are prepared and attested by an authorised translator from our vetted network. We do not claim ISO 17100/18587 certification, and KM Translation does not itself hold Norwegian "statsautorisert" (state-authorised) translator status — where a job requires an authorised translator's attestation, that authorisation belongs to the individual translator within our vetted network, not to the company.

Correction window

Every delivered order carries a 14-day free correction window: if we made an error, we correct it at no cost, as many times as it takes to fix. This does not cover new instructions, scope changes, or stylistic preferences not raised at the time of ordering — those are a new order.

Confidentiality

We handle your documents under GDPR. Source files are deleted 90 days after delivery unless you ask us to keep or delete them on a different schedule. A mutual NDA is available on request, at no extra cost.

Payment

Prices are shown gross, including 25% MVA, with the net figure and MVA itemised at checkout. Private customers pay by card at checkout (currently a demonstration payment step). Business customers may choose to pay on invoice (EHF/e-faktura). Government fees (for example, notarisation or apostille costs) are invoiced separately, at cost, and are non-refundable once paid to the relevant authority.

Your right of withdrawal (consumers)

If you're ordering as a private consumer, Norwegian angrerettloven gives you a 14-day right of withdrawal. Because translation work typically needs to start promptly, we ask you to confirm at checkout that you understand: if you ask us to begin work before the 14 days are up, your right of withdrawal lapses once the work is complete, and if you withdraw partway through, you pay pro-rata for the part already done.

Liability

We're liable for correcting errors within the 14-day correction window as described above. Beyond that, our liability for any order is limited to the price paid for that order, except where liability cannot lawfully be limited. We are not liable for a receiving institution's decision to accept or reject a certified translation. We are not liable for delays caused by information you provide late, incorrectly, or incompletely.

Intellectual property

You retain all rights to the source material you send us and confirm you have the right to have it translated, transcribed or otherwise processed by us. The translated output is yours to use once delivered and paid for.

Governing law and venue

These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Any dispute that cannot be resolved directly is subject to the jurisdiction of Oslo tingrett (Oslo District Court). Consumers may also bring a complaint to the Forbrukertilsynet / Forbrukerrådet, or via the EU's Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force is the one published at the time you place your order.
